The AD-900X has adequate bass--it goes deep and it has a nice sense of impact, but it does not rumble or boom. Rap and electronic are meh on it. The DT-990 has much more body in the bass. For everything else, it's either a tie or the AD-900X wins. It has a more natural tone, larger sense of space, and it's less harsh.
ATH M40x VS Dt770 Pro. I'm trying to get into hi-fi audio and after extensive research, these two headphones are the most reasonable for me. If I were to get the m40s I would definitely mod them (earcups, cable, etc.) whereas I probably wouldn't mod the dt770s so the price would probably be around the same.

The headphone is tuned to produce its max bass output at around 150 Hz below which it drops rapidly. Inverse is in play above 2 kHz where we way overshoot.
Tried the k371s and the dt 770 pro 80, I cannot express how much better the dt 770s sounded, punchier bass, clearer mids and a much wider sound stage. I havent had issue with the treble either. These are the k371s but in theory they're better than the k361s.
